KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Transport Authority is warning against the increase of bus fares for commuters on the North/ South Highway. In an advisory this morning the Authority said that no approval has been granted for the increase in bus fares for public passenger vehicle operators who choose to use the new north/south leg of the highway. The Transport Authority urged public passenger vehicle operators who desire to use the new highway to request a change in the via points of their road licences, prior to doing so.
Drivers and conductors of public passenger vehicles are therefore urged to desist from charging commuters additional fares for journey through the highway, as it is in breach of Regulation 129 (d) of the Transport Authority Regulations, the Authority warned.
