Portia waits on God for election date

 Portia Simpson Miller

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — Prime Minister and People’s National Party President Portia Simpson Miller says she will announce an election date when the Lord “touches” her.

“You will be appropriately informed when my master touches me and say ‘my daughter go nigh’,” Simpson Miller told supporters gathered for a mass rally at Independence City in Portmore, St Catherine on Sunday.

She said she would travel around and feel the pulse before announcing the election date.

At the same time, the party president urged Comrades to get ready because she could “feel the victory”.

A general election is due between December 29, 2016 (the day of the previous election in 2011) and April 16, 2017 (within three months of the date of the first sitting of the new Parliament on 17 January 2012). The decision on when Jamaicans go to the polls is the prerogative of the prime minister.
