Jamaica Urban Transit Company marketing and communications manager, Clinton Clarke, says the company is prepared to meet the increased demand that the reopening of school will bring.

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) says about 66 more buses will be on the roads of the Corporate Area today for the reopening of school.

Those additions will increase the fleet to 452.

The number of buses was cut to 386 because of the reduced activity over the summer largely because of the closure of schools.

The JUTC’s marketing and communications manager, Clinton Clarke, says the company is prepared to meet the increased demand that the reopening of school will bring.

Meanwhile, the JUTC is reminding parents that students will not benefit from concessionary fares unless they are using Smarter Cards.

Students can travel on the buses without the Smarter Cards but they will have to pay the adult fare.
