Celso Borges in the sixth minute, Captain Bryan Ruiz in the 37th and substitute Johan Venegas in the 77th minute did the damage for the home side who solidified their place atop Group B with 10 points, three ahead of Panama who edged Haiti 1-0 in their home fixture. Jamaica remain in third place on four points with Haiti rooted at the bottom on one point. Only the top two teams advance to the final round group, which will comprise the top two teams from each of the three groups. From that final round the teams finishing in the top three earn automatic berths to the FIFA World Cup Finals in Russia, with the fourth-placed team entering a continental play-off for another berth to Russia.
