73-Year-Old Spanish Town Man Fined For Cocaine Possession

News post September 23, 2015

An elderly St Catherine man has been fined $295,000 on cocaine-possession charges in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

Seventy-three-year-old Lionel Turner of Twickenham Drive, Spanish Town, yesterday pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and conveyance.

Turner was fined $95,000 or six months imprisonment on the possession charge and $100,000 or six months imprisonment on each charge of dealing and conveyance.

The police had reported that on Monday night a police team was on operation in Drewsland, Kingston 11 when a Honda CRV motorcar was searched and a plastic bag containing one parcel of cocaine was found.

The police say Turner was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

The police say the cocaine is valued at approximately $498,000.
